God Only Knows Genesis 40-41

A few years back God allowed a time of confusion in my life.
I lost a job. the last of my 7 children was leaving home and we were in the middle of searching for a new church. For 14 years we had helped plant new churches so this time of inactivity was unnerving for me. I was used to being on the go.

I unexpectedly found myself unemployed, looking for a new church and kidless. It was a life trifecta!!

If felt useless and empty.
After a few months of pacing the house, God found simple ways to remind me that He is all I need.
Being a mother is fulfilling for a season, a job can be fulfilling at times, and working along side others in church can bring us a lot of joy, but those are seasonal things that come in and out of our lives.
Through this time of confusion God brought clarity.

2 years later, in a church I loved and a job that was a much better fit, I was able to look back and say, aha!
He gets the glory and He alone is where we put our trust!

God used Joseph as an iatrical part of his plan to take the Israelite's to Egypt. This is where has plan for them would continue. His plan of redemption for mankind would be carried out through them. It is from the Israelite's that the Savior of the world will be born.
Joseph did not know what was going to happen or  he was at the bottom of the well, a servant, or sitting in Jail. He did not know why God had Pharaoh make him second in command of all Egypt. He is given a wife, and has two sons. He did what he know that he wanted all He did to bring glory to God. This truth guided each of his choices in every circumstance.

TIDBITS FROM GENESIS 40-41

Both position of butler (cupbearer) and baker are attested in existing ancient Egyptian documents
The practice of interpreting dreams flourished in ancient Egypt and the fact that Pharaoh had these interpreters at his disposal is further proof that it was part of a false religious practice
Joseph is careful to give God the credit for his interpretation of the dreams
The cupbearer receives a favorable interpretation but the baker does not
Joseph is forgotten for 2 more years in jail before the cupbearer remembers his promise and Joseph is called to interpret Pharaohs dream.
Joseph is made vizier or second in command over all of Egypt and saves them from the plague that he had foreseen in pharaohs dream, by saving up grain in the fat years to have for the 7 lean years
Pharaoh will actually use this as a mean to buy the land of his people from them in exchange for food.
