All the cool kids are doing it; Deuteronomy 22
Beehives, Farah faucet, handle bar mustaches, go go boots, and bell bottoms. Round and Round it goes. Styles come in and go out, and we follow right along. We want to fit in and be like the cool kids. Standing out is not the goal.
Israel didn't have this option. While everyone around them said "finders keepers", God said "If you find an OX and you know it's not yours, give it back". While everyone else got divorced, and lied, God said "marriage is forever", and "tell the whole truth".
You are mine, You are different, You are separate, stop chasing the cool kids.
To belong to God is to not belong to the world.

When Jesus comes He explains for the generation of the New Covenant., He ups the ante. The Old Covenant of the Israelites will end with the coming of the Messiah. We, the redeemed, will be under the New Covenant. The circumcision of the heart. Where Jesus says " Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself". That sums it up!
Romans 2:29 No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by God's Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.
Mark 12:29 ‘The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: “Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”1 The second is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”[g] There is no commandment greater than these.’
