5 Ways I know God better from Judges 5
5 Ways I know God more from Judges 5
- Deborah was an example of wise woman. She understood that strength and victories in our lives come from God. God loves a gentle and quiet spirit, but gentle and quiet don't equal weak. Strong leadership and strength of character can be quiet, gently and a force to be reckoned with.
- God uses leaders that are available to Him to inspire others to do His will.
- Giving honest praise to others is one way God uses leaders, as Deborah did with Jael in her song
- All of nature belongs to God and is at His disposal to be used for His purposes.
- I don't need to fear I am on God's side. God wins and those who follow Him will be victorious in the end. There will be sacrifices and pain while I am in this world, but this world is not the end. He is by my side to give me strength until we get home.
Summary of Judges 5
Deborah recaps the victory that God gave Israel in a song of praise to God. She gives credit to Jael, and teaches Israel that they should not shrink back, but should voluntarily be available to follow and trust God. This song is one of the only passage of scriptures that could possibly be written by a woman.
She sings:
- When leaders lead and people are willing Praise the Lord
- Blessed is Jael, let your enemies Perish oh Lord
- Let those who love You be like the rising sun when it rises in its strength
