The Fear of the Lord Deuteronomy 25

Goldilocks and the three bears, teddy bears and pictures of panda bears are all adorable. If you were to see a baby bear in the woods you might even be tempted to try to snap a quick picture. A wise person however would leave his camera in his pack and high tale it out of there. Bears are cute on paper, and at the zoo. In real life a baby bear means a protective mother bear is probably close by. Wisdom and experience tells us that a powerful mother bear protecting her young babies is to be feared.
As Moses reminds the Israelites to be fair in their dealings with each he tells them why. The fear of the Lord is why! God does not tolerated dishonest dealings, so don't be dishonest or greedy. Fear the Lord and do what is right. Don't be a fool and think you are going to get away with something. God is not only a powerful force, his is the source of all power.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
