Announcing Saul or Scaredy Cat: 1 Samuel 10
1 Samuel 10
Summary of 1 Samuel 10:
Samuel the prophet anoints Saul. Saul was a young man, who had been out looking for his father's lost donkeys. Samuel declares that God has chosen him to be rule of His (God's) inheritance, or the first King of Israel. Samuel sends Saul back home giving him three signs that he is telling the truth. You will meet your dad and he will tell you that the donkeys had been found. You will see a group of prophets praising and musically prophesying, you will be miraculously changed by God's spirit into a new person, and you will begin prophesying with them.
Samuel calls the people of Israel to stand before the Lord by clan. He reminds them, one more time, that they have rejected the God that delivered them, and instead chosen a human king. Then he introduces them to their new , and very tall, King; but first they have to dig him out of the luggage where he is hiding (possibly slightly overwhelmed).
Some people cheered while others jeered. Then they were all sent home.
