The Peoples Choice, King Saul: 1 Samuel 9
The Peoples Choice, King Saul: 1 Samuel 9
Summary:
A wealthy man loses some donkeys. He sends his tall good looking son to find them. He along with one of the family slaves search far and wide for three daysbut can't find them. Before giving up, they decided to ask the prophet (man of God) Samuel. He happens to live in this city somewhere. God has already told Samuel to expect Saul. The prophets Samuel tells Saul not to worry about the donkeys he has been looking for, they have been found, oh, and by the way "I have a message for you from God". Saul is humbled by Samuel's words of praise as he is from a small tribe. God has identified Saul as the first King of Israel. He will deliver them from the Philistines.
What I learned from 1 Samuel 9:
1. You can't judge a book by its cover. I am often so taken in by appearance, but God is not.
2. You never know what a day will have in store for you. You go looking for donkey and God decides to anoint you as King.
3. Stay humble, God anoints Kings and God takes them down.
4. Seek God's purpose in each day and do what He puts in front of you.
5. Listen for messages from God.
