Keep Your Fire Walls in Place Genesis 2-3

Keep Your Fire Walls in Place
Genesis 2-3

As many of you know fraud is a big problem. We all get to worry about it, and it is constantly evolving. New threats present themselves almost daily. As a bank manager this is a big piece of my world. When I get new tellers it is my first priority to train them to recognize and stop fraudsters.

There are three things I teach each teller to ask.

1. What does a real dollar look and feel like.
2.Is this person asking me to make an exception or break the rules "just this once"?,
3.How well do I know the person standing in front of me.

Know your customer is the first rule! and never

let anyone fast talk you into breaking the rules!!

Eve broke all the rules and was fast talked by the king of fraudsters. She was lied to, and as a result lost everything. The repercussions of that deal are still being felt today. Adam wasn't much help. He didn't recognize or stop the scheme and fell just as hard for the "amazing deal" they were offered.
Through the years Satan's schemes evolve but his plays are the same. Satan is a personality hacker, a liar and a scam artist.
As Christians we have the best fraud protection and fire walls if we just utilize them. God isn't afraid and He isn't fooled.
He shows us what real life looks like so we can spot the fake. He give us the process to protect us. We just need to trust His process and not get fast talked. We have the handbook.

Cool Tidbidts from Genesis 2-3

  • In Genesis 2:15 Adam is made the gardener of Eden, work was an important part of being made in the likeness of God, it was not burdensome to care for the garden until after sin entered the world, it was a joy.
  • God gives Adam work to do, because it is good.
  • In Chapter one God is referred to as God, and then in chapter 2 you suddenly see it change to "The Lord"
  • Is this because humans are on the earth and He is the Lord as well as the creator?

What does the Bible have to say about Satan?

Genesis 3:1-4
New International Version (NIV)
The Fall
3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’? ”
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.

The Tempter
Matthew 4:1-4
New International Version (NIV)
4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”

The Prince of Demons
Matthew 12:24
New International Version (NIV)
24 But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”

The Evil One
Matthew 13:19
New International Version (NIV)
19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

So many names
John 8:44
New International Version (NIV)
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

The Prince of this world
John 14:30
New International Version (NIV)
30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me,

Spiritual forces of evil

Ephesians 6:12
New International Version (NIV)
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

The accuser
Revelation 12:10
New International Version (NIV)
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have come the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the authority of his Messiah.
For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
who accuses them before our God day and night,
    has been hurled down.
Lets really dig in;
We don't know how long they were in the garden, or how many children they had before the initial sin.

We know that sin initiated a separation in the relationship with God.

God evicts them from the garden so they will not eat from the tree of life and live eternally in this fallen state. He puts a plan into place to redeem His creation and restore our relationship with him, which is the story of the Bible in it's entirety.

We will see the tree of life again after his plan is complete in the book of Revelation.

Revelation 22
New International Version (NIV)
Eden Restored
22 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.

  1. I'm so thankful for the verses of satan tempting Eve and satan tempting Jesus because it gives Christians such insight into how satan works. How he spins what God says and adds his own flare, how satan causes us to doubt/distrust what God has spoken to us and how he waits for the most opportune moment to approach/tempt/speak to us.
I love the final verses you included from Revelation! As I read the new Eden, I thought Bring it on Lord Jesus!! :)
Too incredible! Love it Hope!! Thank you!!
