Ruth 4 "You Never Know"
Ruth 4: You Never Know
Summary of Ruth Chapter Four:
Boaz is true to his word. The land that had belonged to Naomi's husband can be bought back by relatives in order, closest first. Boaz finds the one relative that has first rights. He gathers the 10 elders and has them witness as he offers the option on the land to this closer kinsman. The man at first wants to take the option until he hears that it also comes with the obligation to marry Ruth and father a son that will carry on her deceased husbands name. He passes, and Boaz gets the land, a wife and a mother in law. They marry and have a son named Obed. This family line that started back with Rahab will end bring us King David and eventually Jesus. What I learned from Ruth Chapter Four:
1. When things seem at their worst, God hasn't changed. He still loves me. He is a good father and I can trust that He will work out His plan. I can't see what he is doing.
2. God loves to put amazing twist in life to show that He loves the people others would turn their noses up at, like Rahab a prostitute, Naomi a widow, or Ruth a Moabite. God has a different set of values. He wants hearts that are turned toward Him.
3. Boaz is a wonderful picture of what Jesus is doing for us. He can be trusted to see it through to the end.
4.Raising generation that trust God is an important calling.
5. An eternal perspective can help us get through tough times.
