2 Samuel 17

When Stan and I had been married about 10 years we hit a relationship wall. I had been a widow with four children when we married, and Stan was a single dad with two children of his own. It had been a tough road. You might say we had been in the trenches together for ten, battle heavy years. We were the best of friends at times, and the worst of enemies at others.
Like most couples we headed to the counselors office for help. We opted for individual counseling thinking that if we could work on our own stuff we would be better as a couple. The problem was that after several sessions, my first counselor advised me to leave Stan, thinking this would be best.  Thankfully God intervened.
Stan and I almost got divorced during this time. Through a change of counselors, some Godly friends and a few years of healing we were able to make it until we could see the light at the end of the tunnel. That was 16 years ago, and to God's glory we have now been happily married almost 27 years.

In 2 Samuel 17 Absalom receives advice from several people. One advisor told him to attack David while he is weak, and the other telling him to wait and gather more soldiers. The did happen to be a double agent that was stalling to give extra time to get a message to King David. If Absalom had been a man like his Father he could have sought God's counsel and saved his own life but he relied on bad advisors, God does intervene, but He intervenes on the side of His chosen King.
